Deep in the High Country
of western North Carolina and shaded by the magnificent Blue Ridge
Mountains, a new community is emerging called Firethorn, named after
the jewel red berries of the indigenous firethorn plant.
Located between the pioneering town of Boone and the historic resort
village of Blowing Rock, Firethorn is just off US Highway 321. The
Blue Ridge Parkway forms the southern boundary of the community
and the Middle Fork of the New River is the northern boundary. Firethorn
is easily accessible by the major interstates of I-40 to the South,
I-81 to the West and I-77 to the East. Access to Firethorn is convenient
as it is approximately two hours from the prominent North Carolina
cities of Charlotte, Winston Salem, Greensboro, and Asheville, which
are served by major commercial airlines. Many prefer to enter the
High Country via the Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America's most scenic
drives.
